As I stated in yesterday's blog our small group emphasis is built on a strong scriptural conviction that Jesus has called the church "to win souls and make disciples" (Matthew 28:19, 20). Today I want to continue to give reasons why Kings Point believes in using small groups (cells) and how they work.
#6 - Our small groups are gender-based: men meet with men and women meet with women. We have found that men are more open and transparent when they are with other men and vice versa for women. We also have encounter weekends that are gender-based for these same reasons.
#7 - Small groups give our members opportunities to build intimate relationships with other Christians. This happens as cell members pray together, study God's word together, and are transparent and accountable with each other. It is a proven fact the more intimate friendships a Christian forms in a church, the deeper the level of commitment.
#8 - Accountability is promoted in our small groups. We believe that accountable Christians are spiritually healthy Christians.
#9 - Our small groups promote Christian nurture and care for one another. Small group members care, serve, pray, and love each another. Small group leaders are trained and encouraged to pastor their members.
#10 -Throughout the year, all of our adult small groups are studying and discussing the same scripturally-based lesson week in and week out. Then, as the pastor I am able to reinforce the scriptural principles that are being taught in Sunday messages from the pulpit. This brings uniformity to the congregation as we learn and grow together in God's word.
If you attend Kings Point, once more I encourage you to become active in a small group if you are not already. You can call the church office and we will help you find a small group that is most convenient for you. If I can help you in anyway regarding organizing small groups in your church, please feel free to e-mail or call us.
