How Godly Women Influence Future Generations

2Timothy1:5, 6 "When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir (Inspire, awaken) up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands."

In these verses we see the powerful influence that Timothy's grandmother and mother had upon his life. These women possessed a rich faith in Christ Jesus that they successfully passed down to young Timothy. This grandma and her daughter were serious about their faith. They talked, walked, and lived it out daily...they were the real deal. It was not only taught to Timothy, but caught by him as well.

The Apostle Paul says to Timothy, "This is the kind of faith that's in you Timothy. " The apostle had great confidence in Timothy. Paul in Phillipians 2:20 says he had "no man like-minded" (speaking of Timothy). Paul encourages Timothy "to stir up, or inspire, or awaken" the gift that is in him. But what I want you to note here is it all started with the godly influence of a grandma and mother upon a young boy as he grew into manhood.

I can relate to Timothy. I too was blessed with a godly grandmother and mother. My grandmother is with the Lord now and my mother is still going strong serving the Lord today and caring for my dad (her husband) who has parkinson's disease.

My grandmother was a prayer warrior. A godly woman who loved God and who had an awesome impact on my life. My mother is the same kind of woman. She is a true servant of God who has an untiring work ethic. Even today as she cares for my dad full-time she still is active in her church working, serving, feeding and clothing people. My mother is a retired nurse who enjoys going on short-term missionary trips ministering to people's physical, mental, and spiritual needs. My mom enjoys having fun (even though her grandkids think she's nuts). But they love their Me-Me and they have a blast when they are with her...she is full of life!

Even though my grandmother maybe long gone, I can see how her godly life is still having a Christlike influence on now three generations...my mom, myself along with my brother and sister, and our kids. My grandmother and mother have successfully passed down their faith. Nonetheless, it is up to us "to stir it up, awaken, or ignite it." Why? So more Timothy's will be raised up in future generations to do the work of the ministry that God has entrusted them with.
