Wednesday's Updates from the General Assembly

Today was a day of infomercials and we finally got to do some business shortly before lunch and in the afternoon session. I have listed the highlights of today's business sessions below. However, keep in mind that all of these must still be passed by the General Assembly Friday.

- Agenda Item #4 PASSED - which recommended that the exhorter cerificate be redefined as a lay minister credential.

- Agenda Item #5 A REPORT on health insurance for ministers.

- Agenda Item #6 A REPORT on pastoral benefits available.

- Agenda Item #7 REFERRED TO A COMMITTEE FOR FURTHER STUDY - Pastoral preference vote.

-Agenda Item #8 PASSED - Permanent suspension and revocation of credentials for any minister found guilty of sexual abuse of a child or a second offense involving adultery, fornication, or any other sexual misconduct, or any combination of these offenses.

-Agenda Item #9 PASSED - Qualifications for Ordained Bishops will take in consideration verifiable experience prior to receiving credentials that might give exceptions in regards to age qualifications.

- Agenda #10 A REPORT on implementing the divisional structure at International offices.

- Agenda #11 A REPORT on the appointment of a study commission on the bylaws and structure of the Church of God.

- Agenda #12 PASSED - Divorce and Remarriage, that exceptions to the guidelines could be approved by the Intl. Executive Council.

- Agenda #13 FAILED - A measure that would have allowed females to serve on local Church and Pastor's Council.
