Some Saturday Thoughts

Please remember Jerry Ray Mitchell in your prayers. Jerry (Wilma Chess' brother) has been battling cancer for awhile now. Yesterday, Jerry was put on a respirator and the doctors have now called all the family in.

As I am writing this morning, the snow is falling pretty good. I don't expect the 1or 2 inch accumulation to have any effect on our services tomorrow morning. If it becomes a big snow, we will put any cancellation information we have on the web, on the church answering machine, and will send out e-mails to everyone on the e-mail listing. We always try to make that call at least two hours before the scheduled service time.

Some of the economic experts are saying we as a country are in the beginning stages of what looks like a depresion. Last month alone 533,000 people lost their jobs...thats pretty mind-blowing. China is no longer loaning the U.S. money and is even applying pressure on the U.S. to get its economic house in order. With our countries economy looking so bleak, as Christians we must consider our responsibility to the poor and the hurting within our body. Acts 4:42 says, Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.

I am convinced that the answer for every need within our body is "within our body." What do I mean? God has blessed our church body with the means to meet the needs of the poor and hurting within our body. God is looking for people who will open their hands toward His work and He (God) will open His hands toward us.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

I hope to see you in the morning!

-Pastor Randy
