Governor Huckabee's Speech Today

This morning God threw me into a situation that was pretty cool. I was asked by Pastor Larry Stocksdale of Bethany in Baton Rouge to meet him at the downtown Hilton in Cincinnati. He had been asked to speak this morning at the Ohio Renewal Pastor's Conference which featured such notables as Rod Parsley, David Barton, Karen Hughes (former secretary to President Bush), Bob McEwen (a congressman), Rob Portman, Anthony Munoz, and former Governor Huckabee from Arkansas. Since I am his Remnant Director for Ohio he introduced me to the group and I was honored to sit at the head table with these that I mentioned and others. Believe me, I felt pretty small among these men and women of such great stature. Anyway, I was really blessed to hear David Barton, Pastor Stocksdale, and finally Governor Huckabee while I was there today.

Governor Huckabee's message was very encouraging. One that I think Christians need to hear everywhere. As many of you know, he is a former Baptist preacher. The Governor mentioned that everywhere he goes now days Christians seem to be worried and upset about what's happening in America. He said he hoped America's best days were still ahead of her but he reminded us of a few things:

1. God sovereignly raised this nation up and put it on her path to greatness. God can do it again if He so chooses. We need to look to Him, not man.

2. The key for America's future is not in congress, or the White House, or on Wall Street, but in America's pulpits. America's men of God must preach the truth with integrity that sets people free.

3. Whether our days are many or few as a nation, we must remember that we have dual citizenship. If things don't work out for us, we have a future in heaven. Governor Huckabee said that when he was governor in Arkansas, Arkansas University had a good basketball team in the nineties. He would often tape the game and watch it late at night if they won. He said if they lost he wouldn't watch it. But when they won he would stay up, eat his munchies, and enjoy the game knowing the outcome already. Governor Huckabee reminded us that as Christians we know "we win in the end. So sit back and relax and let God fulfill His word." Amen! Good word!

Make it a great Wednesday!

-Pastor
