Isaiah 47:9 Both of these will overtake you
in a moment, on a single day:
loss of children and widowhood.
They will come upon you in full measure,
in spite of your many sorceries
and all your potent spells.
10 You have trusted in your wickedness
and have said, 'No one sees me.'
Your wisdom and knowledge mislead you
when you say to yourself,
'I am, and there is none besides me.'
11 Disaster will come upon you,
and you will not know how to conjure it away.
A calamity will fall upon you
that you cannot ward off with a ransom;
a catastrophe you cannot foresee
will suddenly come upon you.
12 "Keep on, then, with your magic spells
and with your many sorceries,
which you have labored at since childhood.
Perhaps you will succeed,
perhaps you will cause terror.
13 All the counsel you have received has only worn you out!
Let your astrologers come forward,
those stargazers who make predictions month by month,
let them save you from what is coming upon you. 14 Surely they are like stubble;
the fire will burn them up.
They cannot even save themselves
from the power of the flame.
Here are no coals to warm anyone;
here is no fire to sit by.
15 That is all they can do for you—
these you have labored with
and trafficked with since childhood.
Each of them goes on in his error;
there is not one that can save you.
This was God's prophetic word to Babylon and the Chaldeans before His judgement came upon them. They were a people that practiced sorcery, spells, witchcraft, and astrology. God told them that they trusted in their wickedness, their own counsel and wisdom. But in the end it couldn't save them! The practice of the occult might make people think they have power and some kind of control, but in the end it has no power to save them from God's judgement. This is why God throughout the scriptures tells us to stay away from it. It's a waste of time. It is dabbling with spirits that are not of God and cannot do your life any good. God says through the prophet Isaiah "its all stubble."
I see so many parents today allowing their children to play around with things that God cammands us to stay away from. I wonder if they think they are smarter than God's word. I guess it is simply a rebellious spirit at work in parents; unless, they are just ignorant of what God says about sorcery and other withcraft related practices. And its not just in the Old Testament either, the New Testament says:
Rev 9:21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
Galatians 5:19-21, Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
God's not kidding folks. When we promote or allow our children to see occultic movies, or read occultic books, or play around with occultic practices; we are allowing them to become familiar with demonic spirits as well as demonic doctrines. We are conditioning them toward the things and lies of Satan. Please love your children enough to give them instruction and direction from God's Word, not according to the trends of the day.
